1. Monday, November 09 - IECME presents African Dance Symposium
On Monday, November 9 and Tuesday, November 10 The Rutgers Institute on Ethnicity, Culture, and the Modern Experience is presenting a 2-day Symposium, “Dance As Community Identity: A Symposium on North African Dance and Culture.”
IECME’s symposium is featuring an exploration of dance and culture from several North African Countries with two internationally-respected dance scholars: Morocco of New York City, and Amel Tafsout of Eugene, Oregon.
The Symposium includes lectures by Morocco and Amel, Nov. 9, 11:30 a.m. in the Dana Room, Dana Library; a concert of North African and Egyptian dance, Nov. 9, 7:30 p.m. in Bradley Hall Theater; and workshops on two distinct North African dance traditions, Nov. 10, 12p.m., 3rd floor dance studio, Robeson Campus Center.
All events are free and open to the public.
