Careers in Theater
Graduates with a Major in Theatre Arts are as much a product of Rutgers-Newark's strong liberal arts tradition as they are of the fine theatre training they receive. This combination offers numerous opportunities once students graduate. Some pursue acting, directing or playwriting careers, beginning in small Off-Off Broadway type companies. Others form their own companies or continue on to further theatre studies in graduate school. Theatre Arts majors, with their understanding of working in group settings, thinking outside the box, and experience with exploring interdisciplinary solutions to difficult problems are also highly sought after in the business world and in government. Some have gone on to law school, yet others into teaching.
